Article Regarding Scaffoldings

The scaffolding refers to the provisional structures of reinforcement employed to help of the workmen during various building work. The construction of a high building requires scaffolding to support people during the process of work. Moreover, scaffolding are also employed to carry construction materials like cements and paint etc One of the principal advantages of the scaffolding is that it can be easily dismantled after use. Scaffolding should be conceived on a particular structure according to the structural requirements and performance requirements of different works

Materials

Scaffolding can be conceived using various materials. However, the metal pipes are the materials generally most used by designing scaffolding. In the case of the Asian countries, scaffolding is also designed using the bamboo. Metal tubes, which are composed of steel or aluminium, are available in various lengths. The next principal accessory used in the scaffolding is called the coupler. The primary use of the couplers is to hold the metal tubes together. The materials like the base plates, cords, wheels of juniper, and of the councils are also accustomed to form scaffolding.

Design

Typical scaffolding is composed of the metal tubes, the ladders, and other trimmings. The size and the structure of scaffolding depend on the gallery of a building. Construction works on very tall buildings can be done with the help of swinging scaffolds. A swinging scaffold is made up of a plank, which is hanged from the top of a building with the help of a strong rope strip. The swinging scaffold is designed in a secure way to avoid slipping. This type of scaffold is widely used for exterior construction works in very tall buildings.

Scaffolds that are constructed from the ground level are called pole scaffold. However, the lower ends of pole scaffolds are not placed on the ground directly. They are placed on a base plate, which spreads the load. The vertical tubes in a pole scaffold transfer the entire mass to the base plate. If the ground surface, where the scaffold is placed, is a concrete surface then there is no need for a base plate. However, base plates are always recommended to ensure safety. Guard rails in a scaffold allow a worker to perform his task without the fear of falling down.

Uses

Scaffolding is mainly employed for commercial construction. However, residential constructions also need scaffolding in certain cases. The suitable knowledge of the scaffolding helps even of the not-professionals to carry out work of less importance like work of painting, repair and maintenance. People who don’t have suitable knowledge in the construction of scaffolding should seek the assistance of a professional workman before building any scaffolding.
